Got tickets?? Then you will want to make sure its to the weekend's blockbuster new movie release "10,000 BC."
There are things you should know prior to venturing out into the massive masses of kids still flocking to see Hanna Montana and The Spyderwick Chronicles. Is it worth placing yourself in the mass hysteria and scampering of little feet as they run uncontrollably away from their clueless parents? Especially when the reviews from both viewers and critics tell you to stay home?
In a word - yes.
If you are going because of the trailers promise for 2 hours filled with mystical prehistoric battles and ensuing bloodshed, then don't. You will disappointed. But if you are open minded enough to realize that movie trailers are nothing more than a carrot to lure you in, and that you cannot focus solely on what it led you to believe would be the defining moments of the movie, then I urge you to see this movie as fast as your little big feet can carry you.
Above all else "10,000 BC" is a love story. It's a saga of a boy's coming of age and his journey to self discovery. It's a story of unity, of unseen courage, and of endless hope in a dying world. Filmed in Namibia, South Africa and partly in New Zealand, "10,000 BC" is filled with spectacular landscapes and impressive computer-generated images that come to life on the big screen. This is one area where everyone agrees. Probably the only area where they all agree.
Now please don't misunderstand me. This movie has its share of battles and muscle induced tyranny, all accompanied by woolly mammoths and giant birds to keep us all on the edge of our seats; but that's not the main vein of this movie and if you expect it to be, want it to be, then stay home. If you want blood shed as offered by 300, then stay home. You will miss the whole point of this movie.
Reviewers have slammed this movie for its lack of barbaric attributes so many think the prehistoric times consisted of. The same reviewers also slam the movie for its choice in verbiage, or lack thereof - hhmmm..... barbaric, prehistoric........ but let's have everyone talk like they have an MBA from Yale - call me crazy but I think someone failed math!
This is one viewer this movie did not disappoint. And if you do go see it, forget about 300, forget about the reviews, and forget about what you think you know of this movie. Keep an open mind. You will be glad you did.

I cant wait to see this film, I closed my eyes and scrolled past the writing bit to comment
Claire – forget everything you hear from the critics and reviews and keep an open mind. If you do that, you will LOVE this movie. I even cried in a couple parts…. yes I am a big cry baby. I can admit it.
