Life Tangent: Broken

Some of you may remember I had a dilemma of whether or not to stay at my job or take another offer that was presented to me. If you may recall, I was torn between the devil I know (knew?) versus the devil I did not know. What choice was right? Would I regret the choice I made??? Let sleeping dogs lie..... I could go on and on......

(I know the picture displayed above doesn't really capture my exact dilemma but it gives you a good idea of the battle that was going on in my head.)

When I had finally decided to stay where I was, to ride it out even longer than I already had, to suck it up and stop my belly achin', the new company came at me with an offer I could not refuse (well I could have refused it but the offer made to me was so good it would have been beyond stupid to turn it down.)

cartman13.jpgSo for the last two weeks I have been counting down the days, anxiously awaiting the hour that I could tell these yokels "Screw you guys - I'm goin' home."

~~~~~Fast Forward to Yesterday~~~~~
So... the big day arrives. Orientation is first up on the agenda so I have to go the main branch to go over the specifics of the company and the benefits provided to me. So far so good. Yeh!
Then it happens. My evil twin "Grace" decides to rear her ugly head when I stand to excuse myself. Balance goes bye-bye, pile of boxes on the floor next to me takes a jab at me in my weakened state, and BOOM! I go down. Hard and to the right. On my ankle. I'm praying at this point that the "snap" I heard was just my imagination getting the better of me. But the instant swelling and pain that pursued was evidence that I, complete numbnut, vertically challenged Petra (please see early posts regarding several mishaps with bicycling in my other blog) have broken my ankle on day one, second hour in, of my fab new job.slipping.png
Yup. Just call me Grace.
So now, here I am, laid up on my couch until the orthopedist can see me tonight at 5:30 to align my ankle and put on a cast(right now I just have a brace). Already I have cost my new job workers comp, and lord knows what else, and haven't even produced a nickel for them.
Boy I bet they are lovin' their decision to hire me......
    Thanks RYNE – hopefully the Vicadin will kick in soon
    .45 – I hate jobs too. Unfortunately I love stuff so I gotta work for the man. At least until I win the lotto or figure out how to be financially independent by sitting on my ass. Got any ideas??
  4. Claire says:
    Oh thats awful Petra :(
    Also a zombie would never have to suffer this way :)
  5. Petra says:
    See Claire – that is exactly what I love about you guys – you remind me of the silver linings I so often overlook. What an excellent plug for the perks of being a zombie – no pain! But that would probably mean no Vicadin…… and vicadin can be really good if you mix it with a little wine………. :-)
  6. Claire says:
    I like to be the silver lining :)
    If you were a werewolf you would really whine, oh that was bad wasnt it :(
    Ohh Claire, that WAS bad! But it made me laugh so that makes it ok. We’ll let you slide on the tinfoil hat this time……… :-)
    I burned out on corporate BS a couple years ago and haven’t worked since. It helps to have rich girlfriends (or other), but things change. I’ll have to suck it up too when I move back to L.A, though I’m strongly leaning towards wanting to do something more meaningful.
