Buffy & Spike & Angel & Faith

I admit it. I was an avid fan of the Buffy series. Didn’t miss an episode, even when the show jumped shark. And I also have to admit that I loved when Buffy and Spike hooked up. Spike helped make that show what it was; not Angel. Angel may have started out as a badass vampire who kicked major butt, however he kinda turned pansy in the end with his tortured soul routine. Some people may like a vampire with squishy feelings; I prefer a vampire that acts like a vampire, i.e. I prefer Spike. Yeh I know, he had a period of tortured soul in the last couple seasons as well, but his character was still brass and rude. After all, nice guys always finish last, right?
When Angel took on his own series, I must confess I was pumped. Previews showed him being more like his early days, when he kicked butt and didn’t play the Mr. Nice Guy routine. But when they brought back his long lost vamp wife and made her pregnant to boot….. I lost interest. It was alittle too campy even for me.
However one spin off I hoped to see was of Faith, played by Eliza Dushku. Instead she did a TV series called Tru Calling which I loved but was unfortunately short lived. She is currently working with Joss Whedon on a new series set to premiere in April called Dollhouse. I have not heard too much about it but it looks pretty good. I’ll definately “stay tuned”…..

It took the DVDs of Angel to really hook me.
James Marsters is showing up on the season 2 premiere of Torchwood tonight on BBC America. Will be interesting to see “Spike” in a new role.
Oh I am sooooo bummed! I just checked my channel lineup and apparently BBC is a pay channel where I am so I do not have access. I checked it out online on the BBC website and James looks so hot! (sorry) I’m thinking I need to rent the prior season (seasons?) and get hooked up. The show looks really interesting!
Love the title of your blog!!! I am a big Joss Whedon fan. I loved Buffy as well as Fire Fly. Spike was one of my favorite characters in Buffy and Angle. Anyway, keep up the great work. I will be sure to check back in and check out your new articles.
How you feel about Angel turning all mushy and it giving him less ‘teeth’ as a vamp (I love a good pun), is how I feel about what happened to Spike once he’d gotten tween the sheets with the Buffster. Wasn’t he sooo much sexier when he was reeal baaad ass? Mind, I always thought Faith was heaps hotter than Buffy. I guess baddies are just sexier… period;-D
I do confess that Angel being a “woosbag woe is me tortured soul” did absolutely nothing for me. I much preferred him kicking demon butt without so much as a hint of remorse. Which is one reason I preferred Spike. Even tho he constantly had his heart trampled on by Buffy, he still stayed true to his animal self - well, except for sucking the blood of good people.
As far as Faith goes, yeh, she was wayyy hotter than Buffy, but it was kind of the “Veronica-Betty” duo - both had sex appeal in their own way. But I agree, bad boys & girls are wayyy hotter.
