My contribution to the lovefest-a-thon

So my bud Ryne over at The Moon is a Dead World hooked me up with Final Girl (who I never met before but seems pretty cool. I mean she loves slasher flicks, and anyone who loves slasher flicks are a-ok in my blog book. )

Anyhoo, apparently they are wanting to start a internet lovefest so the “cynical effin’ douchebags” in cyberspace might become enlightened or something and be a little nicer. I myself don’t think it will work because “once a douche always a douche” but I just blog about zombies and blood so what do I know?

I do know that some of these douchebags really piss me off, though – like when I am at Walmart and some bonehead reaches in front of me for something on the shelf that I am looking at without saying word one – not excuse me, or get out of my way, or move it! – they just reach over and invade my space like its nothing important at all. And its my luck that this rude person smells like something curled up and died in their shorts, and somehow the smell glues itself to my nose hairs so every time I inhale just so I am reminded of why I hate grocery shopping at Wal-mart……. and then on the drive home the douchebag in front of me sees the traffic light change to yellow and decides to stop instead of taking advantage of the opportunity to speed through the light, and I end up stuck behind him on red…….. these are days when being a witch would really have its advantages………

So maybe this lovefest will rub off on me and I’ll stop trying to invent new ways to torture small children with promises of candy and not delivering; it couldn’t hurt to try at least.

Apparently I am supposed to share with the blogosphere what I love about the movies. Although I must admit on first read, all I could think about was why in the hell stupid people take their babies to friggin’ R rated movies when they have to know that all the baby is gonna do is end up crying and making me really really glad for my decision not to have one of those little brats…….. “not that there’s anything wrong with that”…………………

So what do I love about the movies? I love the popcorn. How its always so salty – and I love eating it with milkduds so the chocolate and caramel mix with the popcorn like a sweet and sour sin…….

I love the audience participation (sans kids that is) and the screams and the laughs – it lets me know I am not so odd after all.

I love the giant screen and the loud volume so it drowns out the heavy breathers and fills your view with a canvas that is usually chopped off on your Tv screen (even if my TV is a 52″ widescreen.)

And I love that my hubby will hold my hand or put his arm around me in the theater, so its just us and no interference with dogs or computers or blogs……..

But what I love most about movies are the horror genre, blood filled, cheesy B movies, with sex starved stupid young adults that set themselves up for a major, predictable, disembowelment, no one around for miles that can help save you, unadulterated 2 hours of sheer delight……. willing suspension of disbelief?? PISHSHAW! Who says zombies don’t exist?? Just ask Jeff Dahmer……

GAWD – where are the zombies??? This is entirely too sappy!! So I’m gonna wrap this up with a little sashimi for dessert……..

I love old 1 feature theaters that have yet to be turned into Pottery Barn or The Gap. Unfortunately, there’s few left. They’re going the way of the Drive-in. Going to a Megaplex just doesn’t have the same feel, and the reel probably won’t burn halfway through. You know that’s the real deal, when the film burns across the screen.

If you ever get to Southwest Michigan, you need to go to the Loma. Located in Coloma, Michigan. It doesn’t have the architectural charm of some old theatres, but it does have GREAT cheap ticket prices — and you get a free soft drink with every ticket! AND a ginormous bucket of popcorn is only 50 cents!
PLUS you get to fill the bucket up yourself, so you can put as much butter and/or salt on it as you want. AND over at the drink station they have cherry and vanilla syrup (I always make a cherry sprite!).
And did I mention cheap ticket prices?!?!
I try to get there early and sit in the back row. I can tolerate much from RUDE people in a theatre (when did texting on cell phones become okay in a movie??) but I can’t stand people to talk behind me.
Okay… my rant is over. Now I want to see a good zombie flick with a bucket of salty buttery popcorn and a cherry sprite!

RYNE – how could I not??? I’ll take any excuse to run my mouth about movies and my opinions!

.45 – I must confess that I too prefer the old 1 & 2 feature theaters. Even tho they were a bit run down, they had character that you don’t get from the multiplexes of today.

MO – thanks for the theater tip. Fix it yourself popcorn and soda??? MANNNN we need to open us up a cool movie theater like that!!

I think its high time we brought old school theaters back.

I always wanted to get together with a few like minded individuals and rent out a theater near my house and show the worst low grade dog food b-movies I can get my hands on. Unfortunately, I don’t run in a circle with those types of people.

It seems like there aren’t that many good b-movies coming out in theaters anymore though, since straight to video and dvd releases are so much more popular than going through the marketing of putting a flick on the big screen. When the conditions are right, a theater experience is awesome, but for the most part, I’d rather just watch a movie (particularly bad ones0 at home on the couch with my friends

ENEMY – that would be so totally cool! Unfortunate for me, none of my friends like horror movies. They especially don’t like bad horror movies. ….

    I think I need new friends……………
