Top 5 Bad-Ass Bad-Guy Killers

We all have them. Our Favorites. The guys (and gals) who kick ass without taking names, letting our proverbial god sort them all out. Bad-asses who are not afraid to get a little flesh under their nails or guts on their shirt. Heck, if the dry cleaners can't get the blood stains out well..... that's just a little heads up to the next bad guy (or thing) that thinks he/she/it can take out our hero.....

.

I've compiled a list of my contemporary favorites (nothing pre-80's so you tender footed out there can also appreciate where I am coming from) with a synopsis of why I think they rank.

.

So here they are in no particular order:

.

Bruce Campbell - more commonly known as "Ash," Bruce Campbell was a nobody that knew somebody (Sam Raimi, ironically also a nobody) but together they became somebody by co-creating the cult classic The Evil Dead. Ash starts off weak in the first release, seemingly unsure of himself and rather freaked out by dismembering his buddies and girlfriend. You will see however that as the trilogy progresses, he becomes rather arrogant in a cute campy sort of way, and spews forth awesome one liners and snide comments that cannot be forgotten. He also develops the ability to bludgeon the brains out of a brain sucking zombie without hesitation. Bravo! Although my list is is no particular order, I must confess that Ash definitely ranks in the top one or two spot as few before and even fewer after have been able to touch on his knack for the cheesy B-flavor hero.

.

Milla Jovovich - better known for her role as Alice in The Resident Evil Trilogy, Milla started her career as a model. Typical that they would use someone as hot as her for the role of Alice otherwise we probably would not hve tuned in. I don't know about you guys, but if I had a choice to watch Milla kick zombie butt or say.... Renee Zellweger.... Milla would win hands down every time. Now I realize there are those weirdo I'll-sleep-with-anything-that-walks type who would just love a shot at Renee, but I'm not one of them. And just in case any of you out there want to argue the point with me lets just take a looksee, shall we?

So anyway, one of the things I like most about Alice is that she has a heart but also knows what she must do to survive and to protect the innocents still surviving. And she always has the coolest weapons that get right up close and personal with the zombies! Of course it doesn't hurt that the bad guys made her a guinea pig so that she is almost invincible and has amazing power that even Superman would be envious of. This trilogy is awesome in its special effects and gore in that it appears so real. You won't find any brain matter made of green dyed creamed corn here. This trilogy delivers A graphics, A list actors, and B-horror appeal. What more could a die hard zombie groupie ask for?

.

Sigourney Weaver - Now although I would not call Ripley hot by any means, I would call her a major bad-ass and that in itself adds a certain sex appeal that ranks her right up there in my top 5.

What other actress could pull off alien domination with such emotion and venom, all at the same time? And with each installment, she delivers attitude and sarcasm, two of my most favorite traits. Even the aliens know she is a force to be reckoned with. It doesn't phase them though cuz they are aliens and can kick butt like we've never seen but they know Ripley's name. And some of them fear it!

.

ZOE - ferocious rat terrier, star of her own world also known as my back yard. Zoe mans the wall. Like clockwork she will walk the perimeter ensuring no one and nothing has attempted to infiltrate our abode. Frequently she will capture the more ambitious squatters and upon having tortured and often dismembering them, she will showcase their remains as an oath for what will come to any who see fit to follow in their footsteps.....

oh wait.... that's just my dog..... damn..... ok, back to the movie list.....

.

Brendan Fraser - ass-kicker of mummies. Not to mention he's wayyyy cute and not at all egotistical. And he has a sense of humor, something I admire and find rather sexy in a man.

I'm so pumped that they are coming out with a Mummy 3! It's due to be released sometime this year. I can't wait!

(And I realize some out there consider the gay-wannabe crap of The Scorpion King to be part of this series. Boy was that was a huge waste of film. I realize this comment alone may enrage some Rock fans who like that sort of thing... not that there's anything wrong with it.... but it just goes to show that taste is subjective..... anyway that movie is NOT part of this series and does not rank in my list of cool anyway....)

.

Kate Beckensale - plays Selene, vampire heroine of The Underworld duo. She is every bit as bad-ass as Alice and every bit as sexy. Plus Selene has a love interest in the form of a werewolf that is HotHotHot! I have not written about vampires and werewolves much (or at all) yet in my blog, but I absolutely love movies that portray them with substance and merit (not a huge Ann Rice fan here.... that in itself will cause me to start an uprising as she has quite a loyal following.) This movie offers love and loyalty and revenge and enough gore and blood to keep you on the edge of your seats. I can't wait for a 3rd installment from this one either. I have not heard word, but I'm keeping the hope alive.

.

So there you have it. My top 5 favorite bad-ass bad-guy killers. What do you think? Who did I leave out? Who's in that should be out?? I'm up for the challenge.....

I ran over to this post after reading in my feed reader :)

I need to watch the Evil Dead films again as all I really remember is the evil hand thingie.

I like Mila Jovovich mainly because of 5th element, but Resident Evil series wasnt bad and she did kick arse, I havent watched number three yet, it got panned by movie reviewers over here. I forgot these were zombie films, heh. I hate renee she makes me want to puke.

Aliens still scares me, so I can actually watch through one half opened eye.

Love Brendan Fraser and all the Mummy films, not watched the gay crap one.

Now to my favourite I LOVE Kate Beckinsale and definitely have a girl crush on her, love the Underworld films, Vampire and werewolves in one film woo hoo and Micheal is fit as fook :)

Hate it or not but I do love Wesley Snipes as Blade,

Claire’s last blog post..Workspace exposed again.

  2. I think Zoe is by far the most Bad-Bottom heroine of them all! (I am not allowed to say the a** word). Zoe, you go, girl!

Claire I must confess that I too think Kate is hotter then Milla. And Michael is just plain yummy. I have loved him ever since Felicity (I am sad to say that yes I did watch Felicity) and to see him play a role where he gets to be a badass lycan was awesome.

And how could I forget Wesley Snipes?? That is definitely one bad boy I would not want to piss off! Love the Blade Trilogy.

I’ve never seen any of the Resident Evil movies. I guess I should actually.

After watching Sigourney Weaver in the Alien Quadrilogy, I wanted to be just like her; kicking Alien ass with no qualms at all.

Brendan Fraser and Kate Beckinsale are HAWT! Totally agree with you on that.

DAISY – I am very proud of you not using vulgarity. Zoe too is good in that respect, but don’t let her tame vocabulary and gentle eyes fool you….. shes a vixen underneath (much like you, I am sure!)

MINTEA – If you like zombie movies at all, I highly recommend Resident Evil. It ranks very high on the chill factor. Altho I don’t want to be the reason you have nightmares again so maybe you shouldn’t watch them??? :-)

  6. Claire says:

Oh I loved Van Helsing too and especially Hugh Jackman.

Was this meant to be a drool fest post? :)

Claire’s last blog post..Lazy arse post again: News!

Well, I definitely like Bruce Campbell in the Evil Deads, and I can give you Ripley, but I can’t say I care for much else here. I didn’t like any of the Resident Evils, even the one with Ali Larter. I thought the first Underworld was okay, but I couldn’t get through the second one. It’s the best tranquilizer I’ve ever tried. I didn’t think anybody would consider The Mummy movies watchable, and I tried, if only to imagine Rachel Weisz in something else, like my room.

And if I were to add anything and keep it current, I’d have to say that Mickey Rourke totally rocks as Marv in Sin City. It’s not conventional horror, no, but it does have a Priest that eats women and a deformed psycho that kidnaps and tortures young girls because he gets off on hearing them scream.

There’s nothing more badass than Shauna Macdonald fighting off cave dwelling mole-people while drenched in the blood of her dead friends in The Descent. This reminds me that I have to see Neil Marshall’s Doomsday, which is playing right now. He’s a British director whose debut was a werewolf flick called Dog Soldiers, which, of course, is about some army guys fighting werewolves.

Laura Harris is another kickass blonde hottie in another British horror flick calledSeverance, about a corporate sales team (for a weapons manufacturer) whose weekend retreat gets railroaded and they start getting picked off by a renegade band of escaped mental patients that have become woodland survivalists.

Also not horror, per se, but Javier Bardem as the Cartel hitman in No Country for Old Men is one of the creepiest and most intense movie characters I’ve seen in years. He an unstoppable killing machine.

That’s about all I’m coming up with right now, but I may have more.

KAREN – yup. I loved Xena and Herc as well. Watched the shows religiously.

CLAIRE – definitely a drool fest…. oh yeh,… is it hot in here??

.45 – Sin City was not a fav of mine. I think I had an issue with the way it was filmed. One of those love it or hate it types, I guess. The Mummy’s is a lot like Indy Jones for me, and I loved the first 2 of those as well. As far as The Descent goes, it didn’t do it for me either, probably because I am a chick who likes guys and it was a little lacking in the guy department. The gore was effective enough but still…. Severance sounds really good. I think I am gonna have to check that one out. Thanks for the tip.

  9. .45 says:

Yeah, I was getting a chick-flick vibe here, so I thought I’d give some counterpoint.

Another movie to check out if you haven’t seen it is Perfume: The Story of Murderer. I watched it last week and thought it was great. It’s from the director of Run Lola Run and is about a kid with a highly evolved sense of smell that starts killing women to try and preserve their scent.
