When Great Movies go Bad…..

One of my favorites movies are from days of my youth - the 80’s (it seems sooooo long ago!!!). It was a great movie at the time - had the best special effects and scared the bejebbies out of me. Not to mention one of the main characters was HOTTT in a sexy Jim Morrison kind of way. And it featured vampires - a definate plus. Of course, I must be talking about The Lost Boys
Looking at the movie trailer in YouTube I am amazed at how cool the 80’s were……. in the 80’s! Now I look at it and think what losers we were for leaving the house looking like that (but that’s off the subject so I’ll save my embarassment for my other blog).
Perhaps I jump the gun in my post title as this movie is a classic and not bad as long as we never have a sequel. The problem is that a sequel may be in the works. It’s been in the rumor mill for the last year or so, and there has been speculation if Corey Haim will revive his role as one of the Frog Brothers, but everything I read points to this “problem” being resolved.
Now I don’t know if any of you out there watch reality TV, but I love it. I especially love reality TV that involves used up actors - Cory Feldman being one of them. If ever there was a doubt that he is a loser, it was confirmed in the first season of VH1’s The Surreal Life. If you haven’t seen it, consider yourself lucky. Corey Haim has pretty much kept a low profile since his early days of film, however their attempt at a reality show on the A&E Network, called The 2 Coreys, never made it past the first season. That should tell us something.
I can’t imagine that a sequel to The Lost Boys, especially with the story line they are proposing, can be anything other than awful. I will have to watch it of course, because that’s what I do, but thankfully they plan to release it straight to DVD sometime in 2008 (a true sign of a bad B movie) so I won’t have to invest alot in order to see it. I imagine its not something that will hit prime time TV anytime soon, on Fearnet or otherwise…….
