An AR with one long-range upper (barrel) for sniping and one short-range upper for within 100 yards along with several 30 round magazines would be ideal. A Ruger Mini 14 is a nice weapon as well for the money. Either a revolver or an auto handgun would do as a last ditch weapon as long as you have plenty of backup speedloaders or magazines and are proficient at shooting and quickly reloading. A sawed-off shotgun or legal 18″ barrel would be effective with 00 buck to temporarily knock down the zombies in really desperate situations. And don’t forget the Katana or smaller Wakazashi where stealth is required. Night vision goggles would be handy to have particularly if you have night vision scope. A .22 rifle with a silencer would be a nice addition for reconnaissance.

If you’re going to be a mobile zombie killer (On the Road) this is what I would use :
Spas-12 or type of Benelli
Crowbar or Katana
M16 or FAL, Possibly a Steyr AUG HBAR
No Joke Stun or Flash Grenades
M2 Fragmention Grenades
RU-44 or UMP .45
Akimbo 9mm Berettas or Desert Eagle, Possibly a USP
And Last but definetley a must have my brain!
Vehicles
Hummer H2 or BMW
Mesh covered windows
Snow Plow
A spike on the middle of each rim
And All-Season All-Terrain tires, who knows where you might go.
Also buy you’re guns before it happens because if people in you’re town know about it. The local gun store is gonna be a little crowded.
When it happens, head to the local police station after the zombies have taken over the town because you will and always will find some useful tools in there… Also visit the local car dealer and grab the keys in the office and jack a car…
Plus if you see military RUN LIKE HELL!!! Because they will shoot you on sight, because they want to get rid of even the undead because if they get infected more work for the President/Government
By the Way, just cause some of the weapons are unusual civilian weapons doesn’t mean there not for sale on the BLACK MARKET!
Please, find a few friends that will hold out with you… And sorry to say if they get infected… Shoot them… Good Luck to all and do not leave in you’re house the rest of you’re life because there is this out there!

This is a very thorough and awesome Zombie myth busting article. You nailed it!
I like how you set aside a lot of the B.S. that so many seem to think is realistic. I think the main problem stems from the movies in which people are on “Infected” and not actually Undead. The infected may actually have what we would consider super strength, like that of someone on a heavy narcotic like PCP or other drugs that make pain levels dull and adrenaline skyrocket.
But as gar as the actual undead go, I would tend to think that the power they have would diminish as they slowly rotted.

personally i would like something like a crow bar if you were to use a trench knife you would get tired quick and wouldnt have leverage on your side. That would be a really bad pick REASLLY
